Rich Barton
Operations Manager/'What's The Point' Project

I've been teaching in schools and colleges for seventeen years, having held roles in curriculum and pastoral management.

In 2018 I left teaching and joined FiS, being involved with helping churches to build positive relationships with young people as well as schools in Newham. I help to deliver the 'What's The Point' anti-knife crime project in Newham and have been championing it's mass delivery in schools across the key critical parts of the borough that need it.

Hello! It’s been a privilege to work for the charity since 2013 and I have lived in Newham since 2002. I am a qualified Early Years and Primary Teacher. I’ve enjoyed every minute of working out loving my neighbours – giving children, families and school staff the chance to explore Christianity using my 23 years classroom experience. My family belongs to the Stratford Salvation Army’s Messy Church team and also St John’s Church, Stratford.

Schools Worker East Ham, Plastow

Hi, my name is Yvonne and I’m very excited to be working for Faith in Schools as a Part Time Schools Worker. I am a Christian who attends St Marks Forest Gate, I’m on the P.C.C and help wherever needed within the church especially with the youth church. I also attend a fantastic supportive homegroup where we grow, learn and pray together.

I love going to Christian camps, Big Church/Wild fires, New Wine, Spring Harvest and David’s tent,
I like reading, word games, fair-weather gardening, theatre and films eating out and spending time with friends and family.

Rachel Emerson
Administrator

I have lived in Newham for most of my life. I now attend St. Marks Church in Forest Gate but previously was at Pilgrims Way in East Ham. I came to learn about Faith in Schools through my children who Alice has taught and how much more exciting the lessons were than normal.

When the vacancy arose for the Administrator I felt that God was calling me to help give back to Faith in Schools. Even though I am mainly working behind the scenes you will still occasionally see me appear to help where I am needed to keeping everything flowing smoothly.

"As the first paid worker for FIS, I returned in January 2020. It's fantastic to see how the work has grown!

It's great to be able to combine my love for teaching children with my love for God! I also enjoy meeting, working alongside and learning from all the amazing Christians from different churches in Newham who support our work.

I've been living, working and worshipping in Newham since 1992, and now worship with Plaistow Christian Fellowship."
